Afterschool Tennis Academy

At S.A.F.E. Afterschool, we introduce kids ages 5 to 12 to the joy of tennis, offering more than just lessons—it's about building skills, making friends, and having fun along the way.

Participants boost their fitness, sharpen their tennis abilities, and grow in confidence while developing positive relationships with peers. We believe everyone should have the chance to play, which is why we provide all necessary tennis equipment so every child, regardless of income, can participate.

S.A.F.E. offers an immersive experience with 80 hours of physical fitness and at least 40 hours of hands-on tennis instruction throughout the year, and our consistent 88% attendance rate shows just how much kids love being here!

Participants also have access to the College Park Tennis Center, one of the premier tennis training facilities in the U.S., making S.A.F.E. the ideal environment for children new to tennis or those preparing for middle or high school teams.

Year-Round Tennis

Year-round, S.A.F.E. tennis programs are making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, offering so much more than just a game.

Our programs are designed to empower youth in a supportive environment, where every child can thrive and grow. We focus on three key goals that inspire a brighter future:

  1. Enhancing Physical Health: Through engaging, structured physical activities, we help youth stay active, improve their fitness, and build lifelong healthy habits.

  2. Nurturing a Sense of Belonging and Self-Confidence: We create a community where every participant feels valued, fostering strong connections, resilience, and the confidence they need to face life's challenges.

  3. Improving Academic and Social Skills: With dedicated mentorship and support, we help young people develop important academic skills and positive social behaviors, preparing them for success both in school and beyond.

S.A.F.E. tennis programs offer young people a chance to not only learn the game of tennis but also to gain the skills, friendships, and opportunities they need to grow into confident, capable individuals.

Each participant in our tennis program gains access to a minimum of 360 hours of structured physical activity. We provide everything they need: tennis equipment and uniforms, ensuring that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of any young athlete. Moreover, we foster meaningful mentoring relationships by dedicating at least 120 hours to small group coaching and peer bonding.

Our customized instruction meets participants where they are, with lessons tailored to their age and skill level. But we offer more than just technical training—our young athletes learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and how to navigate competition in a positive way. By eliminating the cost of equipment, we open doors for youth who might not otherwise have this opportunity. The results? Year-round engagement, greater fitness, better academic performance, and young people equipped with skills that go far beyond the court.

Junior Coaches Training

Junior Coaches Training is an integral part of our S.A.F.E., focusing on training advanced players to become mentors and role models for younger participants.

Through this initiative, older players learn how to coach, communicate effectively, and lead by example, reinforcing their own skills while teaching others. This training helps foster a culture of peer learning, responsibility, and community support, ensuring that young players not only develop their athletic abilities but also gain valuable social and leadership experiences.

S.A.F.E. programs, including Junior Coaches Training, offer young people a chance to not only learn the game of tennis but also to gain the skills, friendships, and opportunities they need to grow into confident, capable individuals.

Team-Tennis

The Junior Tennis Program provides young players the chance to engage in friendly competition against other players in their local area.

This program is open to youth aged 10-18 and focuses on developing both tennis skills and teamwork through singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches.

These competitions are designed not only to improve players' technical abilities but also to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Through SAFE's Junior Tennis Program, participants compete against other youth teams, promoting a sense of community and healthy competition.

These experiences are intended to encourage physical fitness while also helping players develop confidence, discipline, and social skills that are beneficial both on and off the court.
